Scottish mezzo-soprano Heather Ireson recently graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music, gaining a Master’s of Music in Solo Performance (Distinction). Previously, Heather studied Music at Aberdeen University and graduated with a first class BMus (Hons) degree. Heather now lives in London as a freelance mezzo-soprano and studies voice with Stuart MacIntyre.
On the concert platform, Heather regularly travels throughout Britain to perform with choral societies, orchestras and to give solo recitals. Her opera roles include; Suor Infermiera (Puccini – Suor Angelica), Suzuki Cover (Puccini – Madama Butterfly) and Pitti-Sing Cover (Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado), Xerxes (Handel Xerxes), Mrs Herring (Britten Albert Herring) and the Sorceress (Purcell Dido and Aeneas). Operatic excerpts include Aloes (L’Etoile Chabrier), Ascanio (Mozart Ascanio in Alba), Nerone (Monteverdi L’incoronazione di poppea) and Nerone (Handel Agrippina).
Upcoming engagements for Heather include the role of Dame Marthe in Gounod’s Faust for Clonter Opera and she will be appearing as a guest mezzo-soprano soloist on the MV Minerva in April, in conjunction with Swan Hellenic and Opera Barcarola. Heather is absolutely thrilled to be performing the role of Carmen tonight, in this special concert version.
